COVID-19 Resources

COVID-19 and related responses may bring fear, anxiety, and sadness. It is important that while adhering to physical health recommendations, that we also take care of ourselves emotionally. Please see below for various resources that may be helpful during this time.

Anonymous Online Mental Health Screening 

A quick behavioral health check-up questionnaire open to Mercy students, staff, and alumni. Results are anonymous and the questionnaire takes under 5 minutes to complete. The tool is meant to help individuals to determine if their thoughts or behaviors may align with common and treatable mental health conditions. At the end of the screening, a window will pop up with suggested next steps. 

 

Mental Health Phone Apps 

Outlined below, there are many phone apps that can be helpful in addressing and managing your mood. For more information on other apps, check out . &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

  •   Breathe2Relax is a stress management tool that teaches users diaphragmatic breathing techniques. It provides lessons on stress and coping skills. 

  •   Headspace is an application for iPhones and Androids that guides uses through mindfulness and meditation activities. The use of mindfulness and meditation is linked to reductions in levels of stress and anxiety. There is a student discount available. 

  •   Mindshift provides tools and activities to help users to relax, cope, and change patterns of anxious thoughts. 

  •   MoodKit provides tools to address negative thought patterns, using principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). It provides users with a mood chart, journal, and mood enhancing activities. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

  •   PTSD Coach provides users with information on PTSD, self assessments, information on how to search for providers, and tools to address stressors related to PTSD. The app was created by the Veterans Association (VA)'s National Center for PTSD and DoD’s National Center for Telehealth & Technology. It is not meant to be used as treatment but instead, as a tool 

 

  •   Sober Grid acts as a social support network for individuals in recovery, providing users with a virtual support group. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

  •   An app that gives users daily meditations and access to Twelve Steps literature. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

  •   Go Ask Alice! is the health question and answer internet service produced by Alice! Columbia University's Health Promotion Program - a division of Health Services at Columbia.

  •   The Mental Health Net website exists to promote mental health and wellness education and advocacy. 

  •   An organization that  provides  a 24/7 hotline for anyone experiencing  domestic violence. The site has information on legal rights and local resources. &²Ô²ú²õ±è;

  •   Provides helpful resources for people who have an eating disorder themselves and a guide for family and friends 

  •   Site focusing on suicide prevention with resources for those with thoughts of hurting themselves and concerned friends & family members 

  •   NAMI provides resources on all mental illness to help individuals living with mental illness and their families 

  •   Provides helpful resources for those struggling with substance use as well as a locator tool for treatment facilities
