On May 5, the 11th Annual BԪ Mavie Awards honored students, faculty and staff for their accomplishments and contributions to the Mercy community. Based on nominations from the Mercy community, the Office of Campus Life presented Mavie Awards to 29 recipients across 20 different categories.
This year, BԪ’s 12th President Tim Hall was honored with the Lifetime Mavie Award for his achievements in leadership and service and for his commitment to the success of Mercy students.
“The Mavie Awards give Mercy the opportunity to highlight the diverse talents and skills of our students, faculty and staff,” said Alena Kush, M.S. ’16 director of campus life. “They also foster a sense of belonging as everyone comes together to celebrate each other.”
Some of the 2023 honorees include:
Eniola Ogunlade ’23 won three Mavie Awards for Outstanding Senior, Student of the Year and Mercy Maverick Spirit. “I think the Mavies make Mercy students want to work harder, be active on campus and show their Maverick spirit,” she said. Ogunlade has been very involved on campus since she came to Mercy, serving in several leadership roles such as president of the Student Government Association and president of the Black Student Union. Ogunlade is also part of the BԪ Give Back Scholars Program, a scholarship program supported by the Give Back Foundation in partnership with Mercy.
Rob Cornetta — associate director of PACT, Mercy Scholars — felt surprised, humbled and grateful to learn that he was named PACT Advisor of the Year. “I really try to be as helpful and responsive as possible whether I’m working with students, staff or faculty,” he said. “I work hard to support the mission of the College and get students to where they need to be. But supporting the Mercy Scholars is truly a team effort across student affairs, advancement, admissions and financial aid!”
