Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

I am extremely proud of how this community rallied together to successfully complete what will be an unforgettable spring term. Our faculty and staff worked tirelessly to deliver courses and support services to our dedicated students who persevered to complete their studies. As evidence of your success: yesterday, we came together to celebrate the Class of 2020 at Mercy’s first-ever virtual commencement ceremony. I thank and commend you all.

Now, we turn to preparing for the future. As was previously communicated, Mercy’s summer courses will be held online. And we are working diligently to plan for the fall term as the guidelines from New York State and public health officials continue to evolve. The College has established an internal task force of five workgroups to evaluate multiple possible scenarios for the fall term that will ensure students have access to their courses, no matter what.

To manage the task ahead, leaders from our administration and faculty have joined together to focus on solutions related to academics and academic technology, the work environment, classrooms and safety, student spaces and residence halls, campus events, visitors and transportation, and other contingencies. They will continue to solicit input from our community – we appreciate your contributions. For more information on the task force, including team members and areas of focus, please visit this page on Mercy’s coronavirus website.

I intend to provide you with updates on this progress throughout the summer. Thank you for your patience and commitment as we continue to navigate these unprecedented and changing times. I hope you are able to enjoy this long holiday weekend.

Sincerely,
Tim Hall
President
