Susanna Killourhy worked as a registered professional nurse in the specialty area of Maternal-Child Nursing for 48 years. In 2013, she began teaching as an Adjunct Clinical Professor, until joining the full-time faculty for the College of New Rochelle in 2015. Her areas of teaching include Maternity, Parent-Child Nursing, Women鈥檚 Health, Foundations of Nursing lab and Pharmacology Lab. In 2019 she joined B次元 full-time faculty, as Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing .
Ms. Killourhy is the Clinical Coordinator for the Maternity Clinical students, on the Bronx and Dobbs Ferry campus. This includes the accelerated second degree and traditional maternity nursing student's program. She teaches a Sim-Mom and Sim-Baby Birthing Simulation to the Parent-Child nursing students.
Ms. Killourhy holds a certification in In-Patient Obstetrics since1992 and from 2000-2020 was an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She was inducted into Zeta Omega Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, in October 2012.
Susanna Killourhy received the Joan H. Bilder Award for Nursing Excellence in Obstetrical Nursing in 2005. She is a member of the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses.

Future research interests include advancing neonatal and women's health:
Breastfeeding and the Baby-Friendly Initiative,
Address racial disparities in maternal health.
Reduce the maternal morbidity and mortality rate in the US.
Ms. Killourhy enjoys teaching in-person classes to her nursing students. Her teaching methods include lecture, demonstrations, student presentations, videos and personal case scenarios to help students understand what it means to be a professional registered nurse. She frequently meets with students for one-on-one for study review and mentoring them through-out the semester.
The highlight of the clinical semester is the simulation birth. It is a way for students to take on the role of nurse midwife, delivery room nurse, newborn nursery nurse or the significant other. This helps students put into practice everything they have learned in the semester.
